Dr. Quimby is an Assistant Professor of Marine Science & Policy in the College of Natural and Computational Science at Hawai’i Pacific University. She earned her Ph.D. in Geography from the University of California, Santa Barbara and San Diego State University Joint Doctoral Program. She has an M.A. from San Diego State University and A.B. from Occidental College in Anthropology.  Prior to attending grad school, she worked for The Nature Conservancy, where she developed an interest in the human side of conservation and environmental management. She grew up in an “unpretentious, working-class neighborhood” of Long Beach on the coast of Southern California on the traditional lands of the Tongva people, and has always found inspiration and peace near oceans and rivers. In 2022, she completed work on the USDA-funded Water for Agriculture project as a Postdoctoral Research Scholar at the Kyl Center for Water Policy at Morrison Institute, Arizona State University. When at home, she loves swimming, hiking, and watching Wild Kratts with her family.
