My teaching philosophy is rooted in learner-centered principles of transparency, inclusivity, and experiential learning.

My pedagogy employs evidence-based approaches to meet the needs of diverse student learning styles, and uses experiential and peer learning that enables more equitable educational outcomes for first-generation students. I strongly believe that an inclusive educational environment benefits all students and improves the purpose and outcomes of research, and I consciously work to reduce implicit and institutional bias in my classroom, department, and community. I completed a Certificate in Evidence-Based College Teaching in 2019, and draw on the methodology and tools from that approach to use interactive lectures, new technologies, and applied exercises in order to create an engaging and inclusive classroom environment. I also have training in anti-racist pedagogy and engage with critical and decolonial approaches to support an equitable and welcoming learning experience for all students.
